Only 7,5 % of the world's land is suitable for walnut cultivation. Ukraine is a unique country: between 46th and 47th parallels, nuts grow almost all over the country. Ukraine - the fifth place in the world for collecting walnuts.

While the export. vector was and still is the main vector for Ukrainian producers of walnuts, they were able to fully meet the needs of the domestic market in their products. On the shelves of Ukrainian shops it is almost impossible to find a single kilogram of imported walnuts At the same time, its consumption by the Ukrainian market for food needs ranges from 15 to 20 percent of the total volume of Walnuts  produced by Ukraine.

Ukraine is one of the top ten exporting countries of walnut. Speaking of the chopped walnut, our country is among the top-5 exporters, closing the chain of leaders with the result of 120,000 tons in 2016. Among the exporters of walnut in shell Ukraine is on the 10th place.
The global production of walnut kernels for 2016 is as follows:
1. The USA - 720 thousand tons;
2. China - 520 thousand tons;
3. Chile - 360 thousand tons;
4. India - 330 thousand tons;
5. Ukraine - 120  thousands tons

Ukraine collects up to 25% of the total harvest of walnuts in Europe
: 85% of the walnut harvest is harvested from trees in the courtyards of villagers, suburban areas or along roads, 15% in old orchards with a total area of 2000 hectares, the age of which is more than 40 years.
The average area of a nut garden is 40 hectares
The minimum area of a nut garden in Ukraine is. 1,5 hectares, the maximum -100 hectares. Although there are farmers who own gardens and an area of 500 hectares.
An interesting fact: in spite of the fact that most of the nuts are grown and harvested by people who do not have special knowledge, as of 2016, the area of industrial gardens in Ukraine has reached 3000 hectares. Gardens are included in industrial fruition since the 5th-6th year. Specialists admit that by 2025 industrial gardens will occupy an area of up to 20 thousand hectares.
The price for walnuts kernels, for example, in Germany is € 26 (retail) and € 10 (wholesale). Eco organic walnut costs € 32-36 (retail) and € 16 (wholesale). Switzerland is the leader in Europe for the import of organic products, they are interested in such walnuts. As of 2015, the price for walnut in Ukraine fluctuated between $ 4-5 (wholesale sales price) per 1 kg of peeled nuts.
Now ,at 2017 year season walnuts kernels price very increased.
As the Gulffood 2017exhibition showed the nut of California and Chile finishing and the price of Ukrainian walnut went up on the eve of Muslim holidays

Instead of long and tedious conclusions repeating the previous text, I note that Ukraine simply needs intensive gardens of low-growing varieties of nuts. Trees of such varieties will provide the necessary profit, they are much easier to take care of and plant them on more acceptable schemes, rather than those that were in Soviet times. With due optimization of the industry, nuts can become new bread and bring us interesting prospects on the world market.
So, Ukrainian walnuts market will have fast development
And Ukrainian walnuts products are undervalued cost yet.
